..Detailing..
Why I Chose This?
I chose detailing as it is something that can be done in many different ways. I like the way it can be done in different ways. The topic is good as the portrait aspect to detailing brings out imperfections and shadows and little details to the skin that a normal photo may not bring out. Taking pictures of flowers for this topic is also good as the colour of the flowers and lines on the petals are able to stand out and are very clear. Detailing is a good topic to do because it can share stories with portrait or it can make a simple flower look good. With this topic the compositional rules would be included in the portrait and flower side to things if i was to do that as it would be useful. Shutter speed wouldn't really matter as much because the models or anything won't be moving. The exposure may be lower for the portraits so it can bring out shadows on the person or the photo shoot would require better and brighter lightning. With this topic using a different range of angles would be necessary because the same angle on a photo would boring and the same to do. The depth of field in this topic would be used mainly for a small or a medium depth of field. The medium depth of field would be used often because the background would be blurry but the person would be in focus. A small depth of field would be used most as the background would be completely blurry.
What is Detail Photography?
Detail shots often tell the story of the situation by focusing on a relatively small portion of it. This is including people, flowers or anything else that can share a story. Details shots can also bring attention to specific detail using certain techniques. It is also used to bring out shadows, wrinkles, freckles and more in photos. For flowers it'd bring out the colours and details in the petals.
Andy Gotts..
Andy Gotts is a photographer based in England and the USA. Since 1990 Gotts' work has been published internationally and has appeared in many magazines, including; French Vogue, Italian Vogue, Australian Vogue, ELLE, Style and many more. Gotts uses the same camera angle in this and similar lighting in them all. This lighting brings out shadows on his models and portraits. He gets the people he's photographing to do different expressions.
The Best..
This is my favourite image because of the shadows and definition on her bones. The detail used on her skin to show freckles or any markings are amazing. The photo is really good.
The Worst..
In my opinion this is the worst as the skin on him looks cartoon like and that puts me off the image as it doesn't seem real. However the image is good and detailed but it does look cartoon like.
Billy Kidd..
Billy Kidd is an American self-taught photographer born in 1980. He took a series of photographs of decaying flowers. The flowers are in the natural process of dying, therefore each flower is at a different stage. Kidd is a good photographer as he takes pictures of flowers that are dying, wilting and losing the colour it had. They are quite similar angles and the lighting is the same. The background is completely black so the flower stands out.
The Best..
This is my favourite image as the colours on the flowers are popping. The colours stand out and with the black background they are really good. The image is taken really well and the detail is very clear.
The Worst..
In my opinion this is the worst photo as there isn't a lot of colour however the detail is very good and has been done very well. If this was to have more colour it would be better.
Wendy Brusca..
Wendy Brusca takes photos of chipping paint and rust. This is very unique as I've never seen anyone do it before. Brusca is a good photographer as i haven't seen anyone taking professional photos of rust on paint before. They use good quality camera to have the chipping, colour and rust in focus and having it in detail.
The Best..
This is the best image as the colours are contrasting and it looks very colourful yet dirty. It is quite a dark image like brightness too.
The Worst..
This is the worst image as it is quite confusing but the colours are very bright. The detail is there too however personally it isn't my favourite.
Mind Map..
Topics..
Plan One..
For my first shoot i would take pictures of my dog up close and get her in detail and possibly edit it to black and white and sharpen the features.
Best..
This is my best photo because her fur is in detail and the photo is very clear, it isn't blurry. The angle and the background is all black. To improve this i would do more photos at different angles.
Worst..
This is my worst photo because the angle is horrible, the lighting is very bad and it isn't in focus. If i was to redo this photo I would take it at a different angle, make sure Bella is in focus and use flash or have her underneath the good lighting.
Edits..
Best..
This is my best edited photo because the background is complete darkness, you can see the details on her fur, and i edited her eye to the colour it went with the flash one when i took the picture.
Worst..
This is my worst edit because it doesn't show much of her face however it does show the detail on the fur.I think if this included more of her head it would be a better a photo.
Plan Two..
For my second shoot i want to take photos of eyes up close and in good lighting to show the details and colour in the eyes.
Eyes Shoot..
Eye Edits..
Best Edit..
This is my best edit as the detail in her eye is very clear and bright. This is because i messed around with the brightness and contrast when i selected around her pupil.
Worst Edit..
This is my worst edit because it is quite unrealistic, i like how it looks however it isn't the best one. If the colour looked more realistic it would look better. I did this by selecting her pupil and going onto the colour tab. I then messed around with the colour and how strong the colour is.
Plan Three..
There is a lot of graffiti around Runcorn so i could go out and take multiple pictures of them and edit it and make the colour stand out.

Plan Four..
My fourth plan that is an extra would be portrait photos of a model (David) and he will be in black and white and showing different expressions.
Expression Shoot..
Best..
This is the best photo because it shows an intimidating emotion and it would be a good photo to edit. I had the exposure set correctly so the photos weren't too bright or too dark. This has made the images better.
Worst..
This is the worst photo because he doesn't look angry and it doesn't look like he's showing actual emotion. I had the exposure set correctly so the photos weren't too bright or too dark. This has made the images better.
Expression Edits..
Best..
This is the best image as it portrays sad emotion with the blue tone on the image. This image could be improved if the photo wasn't blurry and his face was in focus. To achieve this edit I duplicated the layer to then change the photo to black and white. I then added the colourize. I added blue to the image and darkened it so it was a bright blue over the image. I then exported the image and saved the image to my area.
Worst..
This is the worst image because the edit didn't portray the emotion and execute my idea as well as i would've like it to. I was hoping he would've came across as angrier. To achieve this edit I simply duplicated the layer, went on to the image and adjust and added a black and white film to the image.
